WebbGeodynamics is a subfield of geophysics dealing with dynamics of the Earth. It applies physics, chemistry and mathematics to the understanding of how mantle convection leads to plate tectonics and geologic phenomena such as seafloor spreading, mountain building, volcanoes, earthquakes, faulting. It also attempts to probe the internal activity by … WebbGeophysical fluid dynamics deals with the investigation of the properties of large-scale motions of fluids taking place on Earth and other planets. Typically, the geophysical flows are forced and dissipative, exhibit variability on a vast range of spatial and temporal scales, and are chaotic, so that it is hard to predict their behaviour beyond ... Webb23 feb. 2024 · SUMMARY. Detection of intersecting open fractures is an important task in many earth science domains. To quantify the seismic responses in the fluid-saturated porous rock with intersecting open fractures, we develop a theoretical model based on Biot's equations of dynamic poroelasticity. Webb30 sep. 2000 · We review the results of numerical and experimental studies in quasi-two-dimensional (Q2D) turbulence. We demonstrate that theoretical energy spectra with slopes –5/3 and –3 (Kraichnan–Batchelor–Leith) can be observed only for a special set of external parameters.

Earthquake swarms are patterns of seismic activity that have no clear mainshock and continue for a specific period (e.g., Mogi, 1963).Swarms are often observed around volcanoes, geothermal sites, and anthropogenic fluid injection wells (e.g., Chen & Shearer, 2011; Horton, 2012; Yukutake et al., 2011).Previous studies have …
